Crystal Miner

I felt like drawing in a 'giant head' style that seems to be so popular with dolls lately. I love the boots.

Dragons

Ta dah! A dragon!

Halloween

In the spirit of Halloween, I made this really quick. As soon as I learned lighting, I knew I just had to buid some jack-o-lanterns!

Witches...so much fun!

My all time favorite halloween costume: If I could only ever be one thing for all future halloweens, I would definetly be a witch. I love witch costumes! My husband would choose to be a Zombie. Maybe I'll 3d model a zombie for him next...

Creature

This is brand new, created directly from my head to the sculpt in Mudbox. Usually I work from drawings, so this was very different working process for me, but it worked out great!

Spacesuit finished

So here's my space girl all textured. The colors worked out pretty close to what I had planned in my head, though her body suit only got cooler with time. I built her from a photo, then a sketch of the suit over the photo. In the very beginning, her suit was going to be white with a dark blue bodysuit, but I changed my mind midway through the building process and by the time I was ready to texture, I had these colors set in my mind.

Bangs

Here is a pencil drawing. I love her expression.

Black Orb

I love this painting! Sometimes, you sit and paint, and what comes out truly surprises you. This is part of a series, something I started with years ago and have renewed my interest in. They always look so beautiful.

Oil Painting

This is one of my favorite painting that I've done. I found that the paintings that flow easily out of me, like this one, seem to be the ones that people really respond to. This painting took barely any time, and when I painted it, it was the fastest painting I'd ever done. Everyone who saw it loved it, and it wasn't even dry by the time someone had asked if they could buy it. It was my first painting I had ever sold to a non-family member, and I still love it.

Love Charcoal!

I love charcoal! The blacks are so rich and it apples so smoothly, at least the compressed charcoal does. Vine charcoal is great for blocking out a painting, but not for a finished drawing. When compressed charcoal was introduced to me, it was love at first swipe. I was quickly covered in black dust up to the elbow but it was worth it, because I created things like this. Beautiful.

Self Portrait

Alright, whenever someone sees me drawing, for some reason they always ask, "Is that you?" 90 percent of the time the answer is no. I was drawing this picture and my dad walked by saying, "Is that you?" Yes! It's actually supposed to be me this time! Ta-dah!

Ink blot

This inking is the way I typically work with ink when not doing comic art. I like to use brush, a raphael kollinski sable brush. It holds its tip very nicely as well as the ink. After trying many different inks, from sumi to your basic india ink, I found that what works best for me is Dr. Martin's Bombay Black. It is the blackest black I could find that was not an acrylic ink. I found that the acrylic inks are thicker and do not glide as smoothly onto the paper. I have worked wih brush pens, and while I like the convinience (I do use them), I hate the way they look. The tips tend to split and the ink starts looking dried out very quickly. Plus the line variation they can offer is limited and the black is not completely opaque. So, yes, I will use them if I'm feeling lazy, but I will also use a Bic pen at times. But if anyone out there knows of a great brush pen, let me know.

Guy Colored

Looking through my posts, I noticed my blog was severely lacking in men, so I colored one up. This is a character from my novel. I drew his last spring with pencil. It is not inked, just gone directly to color.
